Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province - On February 24, 2026, Lane Xang Minerals Limited Company (LXML) held a handover ceremony for several participatory community development projects aimed at improving local livelihoods and strengthening the tourism potential of Vilabouly District.

One of the key projects handed over was the construction of two public restroom units at different locations within Hin Sam Sao Heritage Park in Nam Pakhen Village, each equipped with separate male and female facilities, with a total value of 41,495,000 LAK. The facilities will support the growing number of visitors to Vilabouly District’s well-known “Stone Forest,” while improving tourism services and enhancing the district’s cultural and historical tourism attractions.

In addition to tourism development, LXML also handed over educational and public utility improvement projects to nearby communities. In Na Kaxin Village, the Company supported the repair of a 205-meter fence surrounding the village primary school, along with the installation of an 1,800-meter gravity-fed water supply system and a 21,600-liter water storage tank, with a total value of 255,280,000 LAK. These improvements will help ensure reliable access to clean water for students and local residents.

On 27 February 2026 at the Sepon Mine, Lane Xang Minerals Limited Company (LXML), in collaboration with the National Regulatory Authority for the UXO/Mine Action Sector in Lao PDR (NRA), awarded certificates to 20 Level 1 Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) clearance technicians who successfully completed their training.

The ceremony was chaired by Mr. Bounpheng Sisavath, Head of the NRA Office, and co-chaired by Mr. Michael Stott, LXML Deputy General Manager – Operations, with participation from technical teams and relevant stakeholders.

The 10-day training program, conducted from 17 February 2026, was jointly delivered by NRA and LXML specialists. The course upgraded local employees from Cutter roles to qualified Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Operators, strengthening technical capacity while creating skilled employment opportunities for communities surrounding the project. The initiative contributes to sustainable income generation and supports improved livelihoods across Vilabouly District.

In his remarks, Mr. Bounpheng Sisavath highlighted the ongoing risks posed by explosive remnants of war in Lao PDR and stressed the importance of developing a highly competent workforce to ensure safe production areas.

Mr. Michael Stott congratulated the graduates and reaffirmed LXML’s long-standing commitment to safety:

“Safety has been at the core of LXML’s operations in Lao PDR since 2003. The Sepon Mine has contributed more than US$1.9 billion to the national budget through taxes, royalty, and dividends. LXML remains a regional leader in UXO management, having invested over US$56 million in clearance and destruction activities. To date, more than 60,000 UXO items have been safely destroyed, releasing over 7,000 hectares of land for safe use.
