Graduate Metallurgist

Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited Company (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. Reporting to the Superintendent - Metallurgy, the Graduate Metallurgist is responsible for developing an understanding of the operational and technical aspects of the processing plant by completing the technical learning objectives outlined in the graduate development program for metallurgists. These skills will be applied to support the plant and senior metallurgists in monitoring plant variables and performance. As you progress through the graduate program, you will be expected to perform tasks typical of a metallurgical technician and plant metallurgist.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Develop a thorough understanding of the processing plant, including areas such as crushing, grinding, flotation, CCD, autoclave, CIL, elution, refining, tailings disposal, water treatment, reagent storage and mixing, scrubber, leaching, solvent extraction, and electrowinning.
• Gain a comprehensive understanding of the laboratory, focusing on sample preparation, fire assay, wet laboratory, and metallurgical testwork.
• Acquire technical knowledge of metallurgical sampling and analysis.
• Apply metallurgical accounting procedures and perform metallurgical accounting as directed by plant and senior metallurgists.
• Assist plant and senior metallurgists in monitoring plant performance against key performance indicators and report variances and trends.
• Conduct plant surveys with metallurgical technicians, under the guidance of plant and senior metallurgists, to gather critical plant operating data.
• Develop a broad understanding of sepon operation field and the roles of different departments within the business.
• Fulfill the requirements of the graduate development program, including completing technical learning objectives and reporting requirements.
• Attend training courses to further develop metallurgical knowledge.

Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or an equivalent field.
• Ability to create and execute plans to achieve targets effectively.
• Previous experience in processing plant is an advantage.
• Knowledge of IT systems (Microsoft office suite – Excel).
• Good English communication skills, both written and oral.
• Valid Class B driver’s license with a clean, proven driving record.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
