Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. Since operations commenced in 2003, LXML Sepon has produced over 1.1 million tonnes of copper cathode and over 53 tonnes of gold. In 2022, Sepon produced 6,600 tonnes of copper and 6.7 tonnes of gold. In 2023, our planned production forecast is over 6 tonnes of gold and 7,000 tonnes of copper.

LXML is now positioning itself for future growth. With the transition from a copper-focused operation to a gold-focused operation completed in 2020 and with a number of other feasibility studies, a ramp up in exploration and with merger and acquisition activity underway, the future for LXML and the Sepon operation is unlimited in potential and opportunity.

In support of this growth, we are looking for Senior Engineer – Mechanical to join our team to deliver on our growth plans, and be a part of this exciting future. Reporting to Superintendent – Engineering the Senior Engineer – Mechanical is to support the operations in enabling fixed plant equipment to perform at budgeted availabilities, performance and costs through the delivery of mechanical engineering support across site.

Key responsibilities include:

• Site leadership for mechanical engineering practices and standard
• Mechanical engineering input into plant modifications and capital projects
• Technical support for best practice maintenance on Critical Equipment
• Repair specifications and procedures for rebuild components, tanks, structures, vessels
• Integrity assessments of tanks, pipes, vessels, steel and concrete structures
• Statutory management of lifting equipment, pressure equipment etc
• Management of Change management
• Site drawing management 
• Regular reporting in line with the department schedule 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. 
• 10 years maintenance experience in fixed plant process operations.
• Demonstrated experience in fixed plant maintenance inclusive of critical plant such as Autoclaves, Oxygen Plants, Grinding Mills, slurry pumps etc.
• Demonstrated experience in applying mechanical engineering theory into practice.
• Demonstrated experience in developing integrity assessment and repair specifications and procedures for rebuild components, tanks, structures, vessels, steel and concrete structures, piping etc
• Demonstrated experience in developing the skills and competencies of people in developing countries.
• Engineering standards and government statutory regulations applicable to fixed plant equipment inclusive of pressure equipment, cranes and lifting, welding, steel structures, tanks.
• Knowledge of processing plant operations, asset management, condition monitoring techniques.
• Good command in English in both written and spoken. 
• Proficiency in use of CMMS systems (e.g. Pronto) and MS Office products.
