Chifeng Jilong Gold Chairman Mr Wang Jianhua made a courtesy call on National Assembly Vice President Mr Sommad Pholsena, and Vice Minister of Energy and Mines Mr Thongphat Inthavong on 4 August 2021 during his second visit to Laos, following Chifeng’s takeover of Lane Xang Minerals Limited’s (LXML) Sepon Mine in 2018. Mr Wang reported positive progress at Sepon mine and confirmed that Chifeng is planning to expand its presence in Lao PDR.

Mr Wang thanked the Lao Government for its support for LXML and Sepon mine.

Chifeng recommenced gold production in 2020 and extended the life of LXML’s Sepon mine so it can continue to deliver economic benefits to Lao PDR.

“Safety and environmental protection are the most important priorities in mining” said Mr Wang Jianhua, Chifeng Jilong Gold Chairman.

LXML is a model enterprise in Lao PDR and is consistently awarded an A+ rating by the Ministry of Energy and Mines for maintaining international mining, environmental protection, community development, and safety standards.

“I am pleased to witness the progress of the Sepon operation during a challenging time with the global COVID-19 pandemic,” added Mr Wang. “Chifeng reaffirm our commitment to cooperate closely with the Lao Government to support employment and economic development in Lao PDR, and through this global pandemic.” 

H.E. Mr Sommad Pholsena, Vice President of the Lao National Assembly praised Chifeng and LXML’s support during the COVID-19 pandemic. LXML has contributed over US$370,000 to the Lao Government for vaccines, testing, health workers, quarantine, rescue foundations, and other emergency support.
